lightning storm

Had a big electrical storm run through here tonight. It started around 8pm on Saturday and it's still going on here at 12:30am Sunday. I took this picture around 9:30pm, I think. Just a few minutes before I got a great picture but I'm going to post that one over on my main blog page. I like the moodiness of this one tho. The one lighning strike was just sufficient to partially light the picture frame.

It was so frickin' hot the past few days here in North Carolina that even this bug was on my window begging to be let inside. Ha! Air conditioning is for people, foolish bug! Stay outside!

reach out

This picture reminds me of the old Ma Bell commercials where the tag line was "reach out and touch somebody" promoting calling long distance back in the days when that was still expensive.

I wonder if they'd have used a slug as a commercial icon or spokesperson. Geico uses a gecko, why not AT&T using a slug? I suspect the corporate overlap is quite good.

flower over pinestraw

I took this picture last night after getting back from work. I faded out the background a bit but most of that was done by the sun. It was pretty bright and I metered off of the blooms which made the pale pinestraw in the background quite overexposed.
